Not metallic, but a muted sheen of paint

Not metallic, but a muted sheen of paint
I was very disappointed with these paint pens. The caps are brighter and more metallic than the paint itself. I used them on wood, canvas paper (pic with swatches and names), and coated paper (the pic with the row of hearts). They were muted on all, and the metallic is nothing more than a sheen. I tried drawing a white dot over top of the swatches (which had been dried for 3 months), but the color still lifted and dirtied the white, as shown in the picture. I gave them 2 stars anyway, because although they lift, they do not smudge, and they show no signs of drying out yet. I bought these myself and was not gifted these in exchange for a 5 star review.

I saw a video online in which the crafter was using these pens to make a pirate necklace. She was using the markers to color on a metal disk. I needed something that would allow me to color on metal, so I did some research and found out who made the markers that she was using. I discovered that they were Permapaque markers, so I sought to find some. I found them to Amazon and ordered them. They were just what I needed. They dry quickly and can be used to add additional coats if so desired. One can also layer various colors with these markers. I needed them for coloring metal, but they can also be used to mark on paper, glass, ceramic, etc. By the way, my project turned out great, and I'm not all that talented. I highly recommend these markers.

I love Sakura products and these pens are no different. The paints work just as well on paper as they do on non porous surfaces. Usually, with paint pens, it's one or the other but I have gotten good results on both. I did notice that to get a good level of opacity on a non-porous surface I had to layer more than I'd prefer so -1 star. I love the dual tips and range of color. Overall, a great product.

I first found this marker by fining it on the floor. I took it home and I loved it, but soon enough the marker was running dry. So I bought another one from here and fell in love all over again. This marker is great it's water & fade proof, it writes on most surfaces, super permanent, and its got a dual tip. You don't come by these a lot and many people tend to over look them. Look no further this marker is just as good or better than any paint marker.

We performed a trial test of ways to colorize punched marks in 6061 aluminum:

    1. Prepped surface with acetone
    2. Made mark with punch
    3. Wiped mark with acetone
    4. Applied color (Sharpie or this product or fingernail polish)
    5. Allowed to dry as per instructions
    6. Took clean finger and attempted to remove mark
6A. Immediately after "dry time" as listed in instructions
    6B. 8 hours

This product came in dead last in terms of surface adherence and durability- basically wiped right off after 6A- neither the Sharpie nor fingernail polish did.

It says in the description here and on packaging "Perfect for unique surfaces like vellum, plastic, METAL, wood, and paper"- maybe just not cleaned aluminum

One of the caps was off so the marker was completely dry. The cost of return shipping -- and no guarantee that the next one would be any better -- stopped me from returning this. It would be nice if Amazon would allow you to talk with the company because I would have been completely happy if all the markers worked.

Great black marker. I've used these for 10 years. They are the only inexpensive markers I've found that use Pigment inks, so what you write is truly permanent. The other inexpensive markers that claim to be permanent, which you find at all the stores, use other inks and resins. Those other inks always fade, like most printer inks, and so are not really permanent. They fade into ugly purple or other colors, and then finally nothing. The only thing left after many years may be the alcohol carrier-streak that is left on your surface. Really - test this yourself like I have: mark a white index card with your favorite markers and pens, and put it where sunlight hits; the other markers (and pens that aren't gel-type) start fading in a month. These Permapaque markers work great on CD's and DVD's, and especially for all archival and scrapbooking purposes. They are made in Japan, using water with the Pigment ink.
